Privacy Policy for GRBZ Texas

This policy applies to the GRBZ Texas iPhone app (version 1.0) and is published at https://grbztexas.com/privacy (also linked in the app under Settings).

About the App (Version 1.0)

GRBZ Texas is a free navigation app. Map, search, routing, and turn-by-turn navigation work without payment. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paywalls in version 1.0. Sign-in is optional; you can navigate without creating an account.

GRBZ Texas respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

• Precise location while you use the map, search for places, or run turn-by-turn navigation
• Searches, routes, destinations, and navigation activity
• Profile information if you create an account (such as display name, email, optional phone number, and optional profile photo from your photo library)
• Device identifiers, app diagnostics, crash logs, and performance data
• Advertising identifiers used only to deliver non-personalized ads on supported non-navigation screens

We do not collect calendar data, family location sharing data, health data, financial information, or purchase history in version 1.0.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide navigation, traffic, construction, and route-related features
• Show your location on the map during map and navigation use
• Maintain app security, reliability, and performance
• Serve non-personalized ads on supported non-navigation screens
• Improve the app and develop new features

We do not use your data for cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information.

Location Information

While Using the App: GRBZ Texas requests location access while you are using the app so the map, place search, and routing can work. This applies when the app is open and you have not started background navigation.

During Active Turn-by-Turn Navigation Only: If you start turn-by-turn navigation, the app may ask for Always location access so guidance can continue if you lock your phone or switch apps. Background location is used only for that active navigation session and stops when you tap End on the route. We do not track your location when navigation is off.

GRBZ Texas does not use Live Activities. The app does not run persistent background location for commute monitoring, family sharing, or other features outside active turn-by-turn navigation.

Audio and Background Modes

Version 1.0 does not play navigation voice in the background. The app does not declare background audio mode. Turn-by-turn guidance audio, if available, is intended for use while the app is in the foreground.

Account and Sign-In

Sign-in is optional. Navigation does not require an account. If you choose to sign in, we use Firebase Authentication and may offer Sign in with Apple. Google Sign-In may appear only in builds where that option is enabled. Account data is used to save profile preferences you choose to store in the app.

You can delete your account and associated profile data at any time in the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account & Profile Data.

Advertising

GRBZ Texas may show ads through Google AdMob on non-navigation screens (for example, Settings). Ads are not shown during active turn-by-turn navigation. Ads are served as non-personalized ads. We and our ad partners do not use advertising data for cross-app tracking, and we do not request App Tracking Transparency for personalized ads in version 1.0.

Calendar and Family Features (Not Live in v1)

Version 1.0 does not request calendar access and does not provide live family location sharing. Calendar Commute and Family Network entries in the app are preview-only or teaser screens in this release—they are not active features you can fully set up or use. Any calendar-related text in the app binary exists only to satisfy platform requirements for linked SDK symbols and does not mean calendar data is collected in v1.

Third-Party Services

GRBZ Texas uses third-party services to operate app features, including:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple (optional sign-in)
• Google — maps, places, and AdMob (non-personalized ads)
• Firebase — optional account authentication and app infrastructure
• Mapbox — mapping, routing, and navigation

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies when their services are invoked.

Data Retention

We retain data only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When you delete your account in the app, we process deletion of associated profile data tied to that account.

Your Choices

You can control app permissions, including location and notifications, through your iPhone Settings. You can deny Always location and still use the app; background navigation updates during an active route require Always access only for that session. You can use the app without creating an account.

Children’s Privacy

GRBZ Texas is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted at https://grbztexas.com/privacy with a revised effective date.
